Prayer Request

For all of you who know and maybe not know the family, here is something to FOR SURE pray about!

"Matt, Candee, and Mikey Dickey and the rest of the Dickey family would like to request your prayers at this difficult time. We were informed this morning that Blake’s health may be worse than we or the doctors originally thought. A genetic consultant met with us this morning after she had examined Blake and her preliminary opinion is that Blake has a chromosomal issue. His blood was taken yesterday and is still being tested but he has quite a few physical features that the genetic consultant noted and this indicated to her that he may have an extra chromosome, which is a serious situation. We will not have the official results of the blood test until sometime on Monday or possibly Tuesday. We have been told that kids who have this particular extra chromosome do not usually live past a year or sometimes even that long. If they do live longer, they suffer from things like mental deficiency and growth issues. On top of the news we received this morning, we have also since been told that he has a hole in his heart. The cardiologist actually said that this was not life threatening and can be fixed eventually. Also, an ophthalmologist has been to see him and his initial finding is that he may have some developmental issues with his eyes as well. Regardless of whether he does or does not have a chromosomal issue, he is a very sick little boy right now as he is still not eating on his own (he is being fed through a tube) and though he receives minimal help to breath, he still is not able to breath all on his own. All we can do is ask that the Lord’s will be done and that whatever is best for Blake is what happens. We appreciate all the prayers that have been lifted up on our behalf thus far and would appreciate all the prayers we can get in the future. Please remember Mikey as well. Thankfully, he is healthy and we have been told that even though there is a strong possibility of Blake having a chromosome issue, this is not something we need to be worried about with Mikey because this is not an inherited genetic issue and he would have all ready shown signs (i.e. at birth) if this was something that affected him as well. However, I know this time away from Mom and Dad and his normal schedule, etc. is hard on him and he could use our prayers as well. If anyone has any questions, you can email us. We are not able to keep our phones on in the room with Blake but we do have Candee’s laptop and are able to check our email periodically throughout the day. We will send additional updates as we receive them. Thank you again for all of your prayers. "

Love, Matt, Candee, Mikey and the rest of the Dickeys
