When driving in from bible study last night, I was sitting in the passenger seat finishing up a text message. Tyler had already let Carson out of the car and Tyler was out in front bringing our trash can up. Carson came up to my door wanting to open the car door for me. As I stepped out of the car I was beyond pleased seeing that Carson made the decision to do this all on his own. He then waited for me to exit the car to then shut the car door for me. Tyler has been practicing this with Carson over the last couple of weeks and last night he took the initiative to do it all on his own. It made my night. It amazes me how time is flying by, days are turning into weeks, weeks into months and now months into years of the life of my little boy. He's growing up before my eyes.
I praised Carson for acting as a gentelmen. And then, most importantly with tears in my eyes, I looked at Tyler and told him "I'm so proud of you, I'm so proud to call you my husband."
Last night was a moment to praise my husband. For the man he is, Carson is becoming. I praise the Lord for a man of great character. A man that will take the extra time to teach his children these great lessons in life, big or small.
What you would like your children to become, you must be that today. A child is yearning for direction and guidance. Last night was a moment of gratitude towards my husband, for the simplicity of the "little lessons." These "little lessons" can guide a son to grow into a young man.
"Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it."
-Proverbs 22:6
